Terms of Use
Last updated: April 24, 2026
Draft prepared by the product team. Attorney review pending before public release.
Service purpose
PantryPulse is a consumer food-information tool. It reads barcodes, looks up third-party product databases, summarises available nutrition and ingredient data, and lets households record rule preferences (allergies, avoided ingredients, additive preferences, nutrition limits). The service is informational and convenience-focused. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not an emergency service.
Informational only — not medical advice
- PantryPulse does not provide medical advice and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- Scores, Household Consensus verdicts (Pass, Caution, Stop, Not enough data), Additive Intelligence results, Cleaner Alternative comparisons, meal suggestions, and Product Rescue outputs are best-effort informational guidance generated from third-party data and, in some surfaces, AI models.
- Users with allergies, medical conditions, pregnancy, medication restrictions, or special diets should consult a qualified medical or nutrition professional before relying on any output of the app.
- In an emergency (including suspected anaphylaxis, overdose, poisoning, or severe reaction) contact emergency services or a medical professional immediately. Do not use PantryPulse to make emergency decisions.
Allergen and ingredient completeness
- Ingredient, allergen, additive, and nutrition data is sourced from third-party databases such as Open Food Facts, upcitemdb, retailer feeds, AI-assisted OCR, and user-submitted photos. These sources may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect, inconsistent across providers, or missing entirely.
- PantryPulse does not guarantee complete, current, or accurate allergen or ingredient coverage for any product.
- Household Consensus Pass/Caution/Stop results are based only on the data PantryPulse can see. A Pass verdict does not mean a product is safe; a Stop verdict means a household rule was triggered, not that the product is unsafe in an absolute sense.
- Users with any allergy, sensitivity, or medical diet must read the physical product label and verify the package manufacturer's disclosures before buying or consuming.
AI, OCR, and photo tool limitations
- Features such as Photo Product Lookup, Product Rescue, AI Ingredient Analysis, Cleaner Alternative Finder, and Make It From Scratch are powered by automated models and third-party APIs. Outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, out-of-date, or inconsistent run-to-run.
- OCR may misread labels, especially at low resolution, low contrast, or on creased, curved, or reflective packaging. Extracted ingredient text should be verified against the package.
- AI-generated comparisons, meal suggestions, and additive explanations are not a substitute for professional dietary, medical, or allergy advice.
- PantryPulse may limit, throttle, change, or remove AI features without notice to protect service reliability, user safety, third-party data licenses, or model-provider terms.
Third-party data and product scores
- Product scores, nutrition grades, Nutri-Score mappings, and related indicators are computed from third-party feeds and PantryPulse's own heuristics. They are estimates, not certifications.
- PantryPulse makes no representation that a product is "safe", "healthy", "allergy-safe", "doctor-approved", "clean", or "medically recommended".
Premium, trial, and subscription
- Some functionality is available only on paid tiers (Basic Premium, AI Pro) or during the AI Pro free-trial window on new accounts.
- Billing, renewals, cancellations, refunds, tax, and trial conversion are handled by the purchase platform (Apple App Store, Google Play, or a configured web billing processor) under that platform's terms.
- PantryPulse may change feature boundaries, entitlements, pricing, and plan availability over time. Active paid users will be given reasonable notice of changes affecting active entitlements.
Acceptable use
- Do not scrape, automate, harvest, reverse-engineer, or bulk-export the service or its data.
- Do not bypass, disable, or abuse premium locks, quota limits, trial windows, subscription entitlements, rate limits, or abuse-detection systems.
- Do not create multiple accounts or devices to collect additional free trials, abuse referral credits, or evade suspensions.
- Do not make fraudulent purchases, orchestrate chargeback abuse, or manipulate subscription state.
- Do not upload illegal, harmful, infringing, private-to-others, or unrelated content. Only upload package photos you have the right to submit.
- Do not use the app to make medical, diagnostic, emergency, or clinical decisions for yourself or others.
- Do not resell, relicense, repackage, or redistribute app output or third-party data retrieved through the app.
- Do not interfere with security, rate limits, APIs, service workers, authentication, quotas, or underlying infrastructure.
- PantryPulse reserves the right to suspend, throttle, require verification of, or terminate accounts that violate these rules, and to correct, remove, or retract inaccurate data or features at any time.
Minors and children
- PantryPulse is intended for adult users. Parents or guardians who create "child" household profiles are using labels only; no personal identifier or age is required.
- Users under the local age of majority should use PantryPulse only under a parent or guardian's supervision, if at all, and should not make any medical, dietary, or allergy decision based on app output.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, PantryPulse is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. PantryPulse and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of your use of or reliance on the app or its outputs, including any medical, health, allergy, dietary, nutritional, purchasing, or household decision made on the basis of app output. Users are responsible for their own decisions and for reading physical product labels.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold PantryPulse and its contributors harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these terms, your misuse of the service, or any decision you make in reliance on the service.
Dispute resolution
Where permitted by law, disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved first through good-faith informal resolution, and then, if unresolved, through binding arbitration, with each party waiving class-action participation. The availability and enforceability of arbitration and class-action waivers varies by jurisdiction; this draft is subject to attorney review.
Changes to these terms
PantryPulse may update these terms. Material updates will require users to re-accept the updated terms before continuing to use the service. Your continued use of the service after re-acceptance is required constitutes your agreement to the updated terms.
