What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to PantryPulse, a barcode and nutrition app operated by Raysor Consulting. It explains what data PantryPulse collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, how you can request deletion of your data, and how you can delete your account. It applies whether you use PantryPulse as a guest or with a signed-in account, on the web or in the iOS and Android apps.
1) What data PantryPulse collects
Account and session data
- Email address, password hash, and profile basics for signed-in accounts.
- Guest sessions tied to your device for limited, no-signup access flows.
- Device and session identifiers and security tokens used to keep sessions active and secure.
Saved scan history and product-lookup history
- Barcodes you scan, manual product lookups, and related timestamps.
- Nutrition and ingredient fields returned by third-party food-data providers.
- Cached product snapshots used for performance, history, and product-detail views.
Uploaded photos (product, ingredient, and label images)
- When you use photo-based features, you may upload product packaging, ingredient labels, nutrition labels, or pantry-item images.
- These images may be used to identify products, extract label text, and generate nutrition or ingredient insights.
- Images may be transmitted to PantryPulse systems and to service providers that perform OCR or AI processing on our behalf.
Nutrition history and household preference data
- Nutrition detail you view and save over time, and product comparisons.
- Household profile labels (for example: “Me”, “Partner”, “Child 1”) and rule preferences (allergens, avoided ingredients, additive flags, macro limits, diet flags).
- We do not require names, ages, birthdays, or medical diagnoses for household preference profiles.
Device and app diagnostics
- App activity and interaction events (for example: scan-flow steps, lookup outcomes, feature usage).
- Technical diagnostics such as crash and error logs, performance timing, device/app version, platform, and session identifiers.
Subscription and billing data
- Subscription status, plan tier, trial status, renewal and cancellation state, and entitlement metadata.
- Transaction and billing-provider identifiers needed to validate premium access and support users.
- PantryPulse does not store full credit card numbers.
Support and contact data
- Messages, email address, and details you provide when you contact support or submit a data-deletion request.
- Records of legal/trust documents you accept while signed in (document type, version, accepted timestamp, and account user ID).
2) Why we collect data
- To run barcode lookup, nutrition detail, and product-discovery flows.
- To support photo-based product identification and label extraction.
- To compute household consensus and nutrition results for eligible premium users.
- To maintain premium gating and subscription entitlement accuracy.
- To protect account security, maintain session integrity, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve reliability.
- To provide customer support and respond to privacy and deletion requests.
We do not sell your personal information for advertising profiles.
3) Data retention — how long user data is retained
We retain account information while your account remains active. Saved scan history, product lookup history, household preference data, and uploaded product photos may be retained for as long as needed to provide PantryPulse features, unless you delete the data or request deletion. Guest scan activity is not intended to be permanently stored with an account. Diagnostic logs and support records may be retained for a limited period for security, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
Billing and transaction records may be retained as required by payment, accounting, tax, dispute-resolution, or other legal obligations even after other data is deleted.
4) Data deletion — how user data is deleted
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at support@pantry-pulse.net. When a deletion request is verified, we will delete or anonymize account data, saved scan history, uploaded product photos, household profile data, and related app data unless retention is required for legal, security, billing, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Fast path: Signed-in users can request data deletion directly inside the app under Account → Delete account. You can also email support@pantry-pulse.net from the address associated with your account.
5) Account deletion — how it works
Users may request account deletion from within the app where available, or by emailing support@pantry-pulse.net from the email address associated with the account. We process verified requests to delete your account and associated data, typically within 30 days, and send a confirmation when complete.
Subscription cancellation must be handled through the App Store or Google Play subscription settings when the subscription was purchased through those platforms. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active store subscription.
6) How specific data types are handled
- Saved scan history & product-lookup history: stored against your account (or your device for guests) to power history and instant re-open; deleted on request or with account deletion.
- Uploaded photos: processed to identify products and extract label text; may be shared with OCR/AI processors acting on our behalf; deleted on request or with account deletion.
- Nutrition history: retained to provide history, comparisons, and household results; deleted on request or with account deletion.
- Device/app diagnostics: retained for a limited period for reliability, security, and fraud prevention.
- Subscription data: retained while your entitlement is active and as required for billing, accounting, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations.
- Support/contact data: retained to resolve your request and maintain a record of privacy and deletion requests.
7) Third-party providers
PantryPulse uses third-party providers to operate core features. Depending on feature usage and platform, providers may include food and nutrition data sources (such as Open Food Facts, Go-UPC, UPCItemDB, FatSecret, and FDA public resources), cloud hosting, database, and infrastructure providers (such as Supabase), email delivery providers, billing providers (such as Google Play Billing and Apple billing), and AI/OCR providers (such as Google Gemini and OpenRouter-enabled model providers). Provider data quality and response accuracy can vary by product, region, and packaging updates.
8) Important safety and accuracy limits
- PantryPulse guidance is informational only and not medical advice.
- Ingredient and allergen fields may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect for some products.
- If you have severe allergies or medical dietary restrictions, verify the physical package label directly before consuming any product.
9) Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect your data in transit and at rest, including transport encryption, access controls, and credential-protection practices. No system can guarantee absolute security.
